Phototag automatically generates AI-driven keywords (tags), titles, and descriptions for your photos and videos. You can export metadata or CSV files for stock platforms and integrate into your workflow with a Lightroom Classic plug-in and an API.
Is there a free trial, and what are the pricing options?
Yes. New users receive 10 free upload credits to test the platform. Pricing is pay-once, with no subscription required, and credits never expire. Available bundles:
- 2,000 Upload Credits: up to 500 file uploads per batch; images up to 40 MB; videos up to 500 MB. Just $18 (originally $36) at about $0.0090 per upload.
- 10,000 Upload Credits: up to 1,000 file uploads per batch; images up to 70 MB; videos up to 1 GB. Just $59 (originally $118) at about $0.0059 per upload.
- 50,000 Upload Credits: up to 1,500 file uploads per batch; images up to 100 MB; videos up to 2 GB. Just $190 (originally $380) at about $0.0038 per upload.
Higher credit tiers and limits apply beyond these, and credits never reset monthly.
Payment methods include PayPal, credit/debit cards, cryptocurrency, and more.
What file types does Phototag support for upload?

What are the maximum batch sizes and per-file limits?
Credits determine batch limits and per-file sizes:
- 2,000 credits: up to 500 files per batch; images up to 40 MB; videos up to 500 MB.
- 10,000 credits: up to 1,000 files per batch; images up to 70 MB; videos up to 1 GB.
- 50,000 credits: up to 1,500 files per batch; images up to 100 MB; videos up to 2 GB.
- 100,000+ credits: images up to 100 MB; videos up to 2 GB (batch limits remain at 1,500 files per batch).
Files are processed in batches, and processing can be paused or resumed.
How many upload credits are used per operation?
An upload credit is used every time you generate a title, description, and keywords for a photo or video. For video uploads, only one upload credit is used, regardless of video length or size.
Can I export my results with metadata or to stock platforms?
Yes. You can:
- Export results to CSV for stock platforms (Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, iStock, Getty Images, Xpiks, Pond5, Envato, Freepik, Dreamstime, Storyblocks, StockSubmitter, MicrostockPlus, YAY Images, Pixta, KEYCUTstock, Vecteezy, 123RF, DepositPhotos, Canva, BlackBox, Motion Array, MotionElements).
- Export image/video files with metadata: IPTC, XMP, EXIF, or QuickTime metadata.
- Export as PNG, JPEG, WEBP, TIFF (images) or MP4/MOV (video).

Can I customize AI results with context, language, and length limits?
Yes. In the upload settings, you can:
- Instruct the AI to use existing metadata for context
- Provide custom instructions to improve results
- Set the output language
- Limit the maximum number of keywords
- Set maximum title and description length
How many languages can I tag in?
You can tag images and videos in 15+ languages, including Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Polish, Dutch, Norwegian, Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Hindi, Bengali, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hebrew, and Arabic.
What is the Trends page and the VIP Trends feature?
The Trends page provides an overview of currently trending photo keywords and insights, updated daily. VIP Trends is a premium feature available to anyone who purchases upload credits and reveals top-ranked, trending keywords based on current data.
How does the Referral Program work and when are payouts?
The Referral Program lets members sign up with a unique link and earn a 30% commission on all payments made by customers they refer within the first 12 months. Commissions are paid monthly via PayPal or Payoneer, with an option to receive 20,000 upload credits per $50 earned. The minimum payout is $50. Payouts occur after you’ve earned at least $50 and 30 days have passed; you’ll receive a payout notification on the first weekday of the following month and can choose PayPal, Payoneer, or upload credits.
How do you handle my uploaded files and data privacy?
Uploaded files are used solely to generate keywords, titles, and descriptions. We save a low-resolution version for the album editor. When you delete an album, all data associated with it is permanently deleted. Albums older than 2 years are automatically deleted. For full details, see the policies linked at the bottom of the page.
